"Robert Adams died at his home in Washington, D. C., Wednesday evening, September 23, aged about seventy years. His death was due to paralysis, having been stricken on the Sunday morning previous. Mr. Adams was a son of Mr. and Mrs. Elijah Adams, deceased and was born in Waynesburg. At the breaking out of the civil war Mr. Adams enlisted in Co. I, 8th Pennsylvania Reserves and served three years. He was wounded at the battle of Fredericksburg, losing an arm in the service. For a number of years he has held a government position in Washington, D. C. He was of a genial disposition and was highly esteemed by all who knew him. He is survived by his wife, who was Miss Mattie Wells, of Waynesburg, and one brother, Elijah Adams, of Pittsburgh. Interment was made in Arlington cemetery, Washington, D. C." |
