SOURCE: Nannie B. Morrow obituary, Waynesburg Republican, Waynesburg, Pennsylvania, 20 December 1894, page 1, column 8. (Transcribed by Candice Buchanan.)

"Died--at her home in Jacksonville, Greene county, December 13, in her 46th year, Mrs. Nannie B. Morrow, wife of B. F. Morrow, heart disease being the cause of her death. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. A. J. Swain. Elder Jobes, her favorite pastor, could not be present. In early life Mrs. Morrow connected herself with the C. P. church at this place, but after moving to Palatine, W. Va., she joined the Christian church under the preaching of Ephraim Doolittle and was baptized by him in the Monongahela river. They returned to this place, and she had been a member of the Christian church here for 17 years. One of the prominent characteristics of this lady was her supreme devotion to her family and friends. Her heart was full of tenderness and love, her hands were always ready to administer to those who were in need, and her feet were ever ready to run missions of love to the distressed. Though possessed of a frail constitution, she was ever ministering unto others. Her life which was like a flower unfolded beneath the influence of the sun of righteousness, has faded and gone, but the sweet fragrance of that life remains. She leaves a heart broken family to mourn her departure. A few moments before she fell asleep she told her daughters not to weep, as she was going home to live with Jesus.

'Home is not home, for mother is not there,
Angels have taken her out of our care;
Dark is her room and empty her chair,
She has gone to that home so peaceful and fair.'

We, her neighbors, do not sorrow as those who have no hope. This hope nothing can defeat and in years to come will sweeten the toils of her family she loved so well, into joy. We who knew her well and loved her, confidently commit her to the great Shepherd who will lead her into the City of God that hath its foundations 'on the holy hills' where death hath no dominion. As we looked upon the lifeless form and pale face, calm and peaceful in death we not help but ponder thus:

'Who would live always away from his God,
Away from yon heaven, that blissful abode;
Where the rivers of pleasure flow o'er the bright plains,
And the noontide of glory eternally reigns.'

H."
