"Our community learned with sorrow on Tuesday, December 14, of the death of Mrs. Rachel Beuter, wife of John Beuter, who died at their home on East Main street, at 6:30 that morning. Last Friday she was taken with an attack of acute pneumonia which gradually became worse, causing her death. Deceased had been in poor health almost from young womanhood, with pulmonary trouble, but her remarkable energy no doubt prolonged her life. She was engaged in the millinery business here for many years and was known to many residents of the county. Her great kindness of heart and pleasant words for everyone endeared her to all her acquaintances and patrons. Her maiden name was Donahoo, having been born in Franklin township, this county. She would have been 69 years of age in January. She was first united in marriage to Jacob Bower, of this place, who died in 1855. In 1860 she was united in marriage to John Beuter, who survives her. She was a member of St. Anne's Catholic church, this place, and was a devout christian woman, pure in heart and always doing good works. Mrs. Jesse L. Ross, this place, is a niece of deceased, and was raised by her. The funeral will be held this morning at 10 o'clock in the Catholic church. Many friends join with us in extending to the bereaved husband and relatives kindest sympathy in their sorrow."
