Description / Citation: Handwritten
inscription on back of photograph reads, "Lonnie Watson," but this may
not be an identification. If the inscription indicates Alonzo H. Watson
[1894-1939], who was a son of Jacob Weaver Watson [1867-1941], then he
cannot be the subject. This photograph dates circa the early 1880s, which
means the birth of the subject is likely circa the 1860s. This man is more
likely of Jacob Weaver Watson's generation than his son's. Photographs
of Jacob Weaver Watson and his brothers do not appear to match, but photographs
have not yet been provided for many of Jacob's cousins. Original, professional
photograph from J. H. Rogers & Son, Photographers, Waynesburg, Pa.
The Roger Glenn Doty Collection photographs were passed from Henry Watson
[1845-1916] and his wife, Mary Elizabeth Weaver [1846-1924] to their daughter
Tennie Lee (Watson) Doty [1888-1969] to her son Wilbert Glenn Doty [1921-1981]
to his son Roger Glenn Doty who owned and shared the photographs with the
Greene Connections: Greene County, Pennsylvania Photo Archives Project
in 2007. Each generation added to the collection with photographs from
their own family and in-laws.
