"Machine Shop Operator Dies G. Harvey Elms, well known machine shop operator and manufacturer of oil and gas well supplies, died Friday morning, June 27, 1947, at 1:30 o'clock, in his home at 245 West College street, Waynesburg, after an illness of six months. He was connected with the Elms Brothers' machine shop in Waynesburg for more than 50 years, and retired from active participation in that business about five years ago. A son of the late George and Sara Jones Elms, he was born at Graysville, on February 22, 1863. He was twice married. His first wife, Eva Morris, died in 1902. To this marriage was born a daughter, Lucy, wife of C. Austin Dille, of Waynesburg, who survives. Another daughter, Sara Elms Simpson, is deceased. In 1918 he married Sadie S. Huffman, who survives, in addition to nine grandchildren and four great grandchildren. He leaves three sisters, namely: Miss Elizabeth Elms and Mrs. S. O. VanCleve, both of Waynesburg; and Mrs. John Harkins, of Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio, and one brother, W. A. Elms, also of Waynesburg. He was a member of St. George's Episcopal Mission of Waynesburg, F. & A. M. Lodge, No. 153, Waynesburg, Knights Templar, Washington, Council Chapter, of Washington, and the Consistory at Coudersport, Pa." |
