SOURCE: George Elms obituary, Waynesburg Republican, Waynesburg, Pennsylvania, 2 October 1890, page 1, column 5. (Transcribed by Candice Buchanan.)
"Mr. George Elms died at his home at Fordyce, this county, Wednesday Oct. 1st. He was one of Greene county's best citizens and will be missed in the community where he resides. He was born in England, but had resided in Greene county since early manhood. He was an old soldier, serving in the Union Army throughout the late war. He leaves a wife and several children to mourn his death, who have the sympathies of many friends. He had been afflicted for several weeks with a severe attack of diabetes, which quickly did its work. He had only been confined to his room a short time. The interment will be made in the Waynesburg cemetery on Friday. Further notice will be given next week." |
