"Funeral rites were held Sunday afternoon for Miss Sarah Ann Elms, aged 78 years, nine months and 17 days, well known Waynesburg woman, who died of heart trouble at her home on East Franklin street Thursday evening, Oct. 12. The services were held in the Elms home at 2 o'clock with Rev. G. Phillip Jung, of Brownsville, in charge. Interment was in Green Mount cemetery. Miss Elms had been in poor health for some time and her condition had been critical for several days. A daughter of George and Sarah Jones Elms, she was born January 25, 1855, at Swarts Station and spent all her life in Greene county, residing in Waynesburg for the past several years. She was a seamstress and was widely known and highly respected. Miss Elms was a faithful and active member of the St. George Episcopal Mission of Waynesburg. The following brothers and sisters survive: Mrs. John H. Harkins, of Cuyahoga Falls, O.; Mrs. S. O. VanCleve, G. H. Elms, W. A. Elms and Miss Elizabeth Elms, all of Waynesburg." |
