BIOGRAPHICAL SKETCH OF ROGER GLENN DOTY

Roger Glenn Doty descends from the Doty, Regester, Swart, Watson, Weaver and related families of Greene and Washington Counties, Pennsylvania.

SCOPE AND CONTENT NOTE

The Roger Glenn Doty Collection is a family photograph collection. The earliest photographs date to the Civil War era (distinguished by tax stamps that were used between 1 August 1864 and 1 March 1865) and follow the family through several generations into the 1930s. The collection contains carte-de-visites and cabinet cards among others. The collection has been divided into two series: Watson-Almost and Weaver-Regester.

The series were initially arranged by family; however, additional photos continue to be added to the end of the series as they are shared for scanning. Consequently, it is best to use the DOTY Collection Index to look for specific individuals or subjects.

*The Watson-Almost Series (Catalogue Code: AN001) photographs were passed from Henry Watson [1845-1916] and his wife, Mary Elizabeth Weaver [1846-1924] to their daughter Tennie Lee (Watson) Doty [1888-1969] to her son Wilbert Glenn Doty [1921-1981] to his son Roger Glenn Doty who owned and shared the photographs with the Greene Connections: Greene County, Pennsylvania Photo Archives Project in 2007.

*The Weaver-Regester Series (Catalogue Code: AN002) photographs were passed from Jacob Weaver [1821-1918] and his wife, Sarah Regester [1823-1898] to their daughter Mary Elizabeth (Weaver) Watson [1846-1924] to her daughter Tennie Lee (Watson) Doty [1888-1969] to her son Wilbert Glenn Doty [1921-1981] to his son Roger Glenn Doty who owned and shared the photographs with the Greene Connections: Greene County, Pennsylvania Photo Archives Project in 2007.
