BIOGRAPHICAL SKETCH OF NANCY LEE (JOHNSON) RACUNAS

Nancy Lee Johnson, who was born April 10, 1949, is the oldest child and only daughter of David Oscar Johnson (born March 25, 1923; died August 30, 1998) and Sara Lee Fordyce (born September 4, 1924; died December 7, 2004). Her brothers are David Leon Johnson (born January 9, 1953) and Richard Denny Johnson (born August 17, 1954). On January 21, 1972, she married Raymond Richard Racunas.

Her grandparents (Denny Fordyce and Martha Ferrell Fordyce and David Hampson Johnson and Minnie Parson Johnson) instilled in her a great sense of pride in her ancestors.

Family history was an important part of her life from an early age, and she continues to enjoy the search for details  about her heritage. Her family lines include Johnson-Staggers-Parson-Anderson and Fordyce-Fox-Mason-Throckmorton-Ferrell-Gump.

SCOPE AND CONTENT NOTE

The Nancy Lee (Johnson) Racunas Collection has been divided into two series.

The series were initially arranged by family; however, additional photos continue to be added to the end of each series as they are shared for scanning. For best results, use the RACU Collection Index to look for specific individuals or subjects.

The Fordyce-Fox Series (Catalogue Code: AN001) photographs were passed from John Barnett Fordyce [1863-1932] and his wife, Anna Eliza Fox [1869-1929], to their son Denny Fordyce [1893-1980] and his wife, Martha Wanda Ferrell [1897-1969], to their daughter Sara Lee Fordyce [1924-2004] and her husband, David Oscar Johnson [1923-1998], to their daughter, Nancy Lee (Johnson) Racunas who owned and shared the photographs with the Greene Connections: Greene County, Pennsylvania Photo Archives Project in 2007. Each generation added to the collection with photographs from their own family and in-laws.

The Johnson-Parson Series (Catalogue Code: AN002) photographs were passed from David Hampson Johnson [1894-1967] and his wife, Minnie Ethel Parson [1901-1982], to their son David Oscar Johnson [1923-1998] and his wife, Sara Lee Fordyce [1924-2004], to their daughter, Nancy Lee (Johnson) Racunas who owned and shared the photographs with the Greene Connections: Greene County, Pennsylvania Photo Archives Project in 2007. Each generation added to the collection with photographs from their own family and in-laws.
