BIOGRAPHICAL SKETCH OF CATHERINE MIRANDA (STAGGERS) BOWLBY

Catherine Miranda (Staggers) Bowlby [1855-1941] was the wife of Sebastian L. Bowlby, and the daughter of Lisbon Leander Staggers [1820-1909] and his first wife, Eliza Jane Mooney [1820-1864].

SCOPE AND CONTENT NOTE

The Catherine Miranda (Staggers) Bowlby Collection is predominantly a family photograph collection, but also includes Greene County friends, neighbors and “beaus,” many of which are identified on the pages of a nineteenth century photograph album. Photograph types include Cartes-de-Visite, Tintypes and Cabinet Cards. The photographs were acquired and preserved by friends of the Bowlby family who owned and shared the photographs with the Greene Connections: Greene County, Pennsylvania Photo Archives Project between 2005 and 2007. Ownership information has been kept private upon request.

The collection has been divided into two series: Album 1 and Various. The Album 1 Series has been maintained in original order. The Various Series was initially arranged by family; however, additional photos continue to be added to the end of this series as they are shared for scanning. For best results, use the STAC Collection Index to look for specific individuals or subjects.
