BIOGRAPHICAL SKETCH OF MELVIN LEE TOOTHMAN

Melvin Lee Toothman was born 17 August 1922 in Clarksburg, Harrison County, West Virginia, the youngest son of Glenn Jacob Roy Thornton Toothman Sr. [1891-1967] and his wife, Elsie Huffman Rees [1890-1982]. He was married 20 October 1951 in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, to Shirley Snyder. Together they raised three children: Mark, Pam, and Amy.

SCOPE AND CONTENT NOTE

The Melvin Lee Toothman Collection has been divided into two series: Toothman and Rees.

The series were initially arranged by family; however, additional photos continue to be added to the end of the series as they are shared for scanning. For best results, use the TOOL Collection Index to look for specific individuals or subjects.

*The Toothman Series (Catalogue Code: AN001) photographs were passed from Harry Sterling Toothman [1872-1951] and his wife, Abigail B. "Muddy" Kiger [1870-1964], to their son Glenn Jacob Roy Thornton Toothman Sr. [1891-1967] and his wife, Elsie Huffman Rees [1890-1982], to their son Melvin Lee Toothman who owned and shared the photographs with the Greene Connections: Greene County, Pennsylvania Photo Archives Project in 2007. Each generation added to the collection with photographs from their own family and in-laws.

*The Rees Series (Catalogue Code: AN002) photographs were passed from James Buchanon Rees [1858-1930] and his first wife, Elizabeth "Bettie" Furr [1857-1903], to their daughter Elsie Huffman Rees [1890-1982] and her husband, Glenn Jacob Roy Thornton Toothman Sr. [1891-1967], to their son Melvin Lee Toothman who owned and shared the photographs with the Greene Connections: Greene County, Pennsylvania Photo Archives Project in 2007. Each generation added to the collection with photographs from their own family and in-laws.
