"Mrs. Katherine Ewing, widow of E. O. Ewing, died in Canton, Ohio, Saturday, December 22, at the age of 87 years. Mrs. Ewing was a daughter of William and Nancy Hays, deceased, and was born in Waynesburg where she spent her early life. She was twice married. Her first husband was Jefferson Zane, whose death occurred many years ago. Later she was united in marriage with E.O. Ewing, who is also deceased. Three daughters and one son by her former marriage survive: Mrs. David Harmon of Massillon, Ohio, with whom she made her home; Mrs. James Killen, Canton, Ohio; Mrs. Anne Walton, Los Angeles, Cal., and William Zane of Vernon, Texas. The following sisters and brother, also survive: Mrs. A. M. Charlton, Washington. Pa.; Mrs. A. H. Jolley of Edgewood, Pa.; Miss Matilda O. Hays of Pittsburgh, and George Hays of Elkton, Md. Mrs. Ewing was an aunt of Mrs. Charles Donham and James D. Thomas of Waynesburg. The body will be brought to Waynesburg and services will be held Thursday afternoon at 3:30 o'clock, in the Christian church of which she was a member. Interment in Green Mount cemetery." |
