"Died, On Thursday of last week, June 25, 1885, at her home in Franklin township, Mrs. Elizabeth Kent, aged about 40 years. Deceased was the wife of Spencer Kent. Her maiden name was Jacobs, and she was a sister of our townsman H. M. Jacobs. Mrs. Kent was amiable almost to a fault, kind-hearted and a true Christian lady. All who knew her, knew her but to love her. She has a large connection in this county, and the remains were followed to their last resting place, in Green Mount cemetery, by the largest funeral procession, perhaps, ever witnessed in our town. She leaves a husband and eight children to mourn the loss of a devoted wife and mother."
