28 April 1898, page 4, column 4. (Transcribed by Candice Buchanan.) "Yesterday afternoon the family of Henry M. Jacobs, this place, received the sad intelligence of the death of Mr. Jacobs' son R. B. Jacobs, which occurred suddenly at Allegheny, Pa., that day. He was a plasterer by trade and fell dead from heart disease, while working. The news came to the family while the crowd was gathered at the depot awaiting the departure of Company K and while their house was gaily decorated with bunting, proving a great shock under the circumstances. Mr. Jacobs was 36 years of age and a respected, industrious young man. The family have the sympathy of our community." |
