"Death is Sudden for Mrs. Nannie K. Lewis Funeral rites were held here yesterday for Mrs. Nannie Kent Lewis, well known former resident of Waynesburg, who died suddenly Friday, April 6, 1934, at her home in Claremont, Florida. The services were conducted at 4 o'clock in the home of her sister, Mrs. John Simington, of West Lincoln street, with Rev. Robert L. Porter, pastor of the First Christian church of Waynesburg, in charge. Interment was in Green Mount cemetery. A daughter of Spencer B. and Elizabeth Jacobs Kent, she was born near Waynesburg and spent most of her life in this community. She was twice married. Her first husband, Hysea Brooks, died several years ago. Her second husband, E. C. Lewis, survives. She also leaves one daughter, Miss Elizabeth Brooks, a teacher in the schools at Claremont, Fla., and the following sisters: Mrs. Frank Tharp, of Sycamore; Mrs. Jesse Wood, of Dunns Station, R. D. 2; Mrs. E. S. Finch, of San Diego, Calif.; Mrs. Mae K. Finch, of Waynesburg; Mrs. John Simington, of Waynesburg, and Mrs. Lucy K. Bell, of Washington, R. D. 6. Mrs. Lewis had been a member of the First Christian church of Waynesburg, having been a member of that denomination for 40 years and always took an active part in all phases of church and Sabbath school work. She had resided in Florida for the past 12 years." |
