Description / Citation: Photograph of William Eli Gapen, Waynesburg College, Class of 1853 - husband of Helen Mary Minor, son of Eli Gapen & Alene Mestrezat. Handwritten inscription on back of photograph, reads: "To my friend and College Class-mate / Mr. Clark Hackney - / One of the class of four in fiftythree. / Pretty good Boys, tis said, were we. / This is to the big one of the four / From the little one. Say, Clark, are we Boys anymore? / W. E. Gapen / Bloomington, Illinois / Aug. 7, 1899." Original, professional photograph, no photographer listed.
