"Mrs. Margaret Jane Strawn, widow of Stephen H. Strawn, deceased, died at the home of her son, William Strawn, East Elm street, Saturday afternoon, April 30, aged 86 years, of infirmities incident to old age. Mrs. Strawn was a daughter of Samuel and Margaret Jewell and was born on the old Adams farm, north of town. She was an excellent christian woman being a life long member of the M. E. church. The following children survive: John, William and Morgan Strawn, of Waynesburg; S. G. Strawn and Mrs. Eliza Wilson, of Washington, Pa.; Abner, of Hutchinson, Kansas, and Mason, of Kansas City, Mo. Nineteen grand children and twenty-one great-grandchildren also survive. The funeral services were held Monday at 11 o'clock in the Hopewell M. E. church. Interment in the Hopewell cemetery."

"Mrs. Margaret Jane Strawn was born on what is known as the Adams farm one mile north of Waynesburg, Pa., on November 3, 1823. She was the youngest daughter of Samuel and Margaret (Mason) Jewell. Her father, Samuel Jewell, died at the age of 76 years, six months and 15 days. Her mother, Margaret (Mason) Jewell was born in Ireland and came to this country when quite young. She died at the age of 86 years one month and 25 days. Mrs. Strawn was married to Stephen H. Strawn July 15, 1841. They lived a very pleasant life together for more than 49 years, when they were separated by his death on September 17, 1890, at the age of 73 years and 12 days. There was born to the union eight children, six sons and two daughters, namely: Elizabeth (Strawn) Smith, deceased, John, William and Morgan T. Strawn, of Waynesburg, Pa., S. G. Strawn and Eliza Watson of Washington, Pa.; Abner L. Strawn, of Hutchinson, Kansas and J. Mason Strawn, of Kansas City, Mo. Nineteen grandchildren and twenty-one great grandchildren also survive. Mrs. Strawn when a girl united with the Methodist church, but sometime after their marriage she with her husband united with the Baptist church at Waynesburg. After their removal to Center Township they attended the Bates Fork and South Ten Mile Baptist churches regularly. She came to Waynesburg fourteen years ago and since that time she has made her home most all the time with her son, William Strawn, 31 East Elm Street, at which place she took a cold on the evening of March 11, 1910 and on March 16th, she took her bed with typhiod lagrippe and a general break down of age which resulted in her death on Saturday, April 30, 1910, at 2:14 p.m. Memorial service in charge of the Rev. A. S. Kelley, of the Waynesburg Baptist Church, was held at the home of William Strawn Sunday evening at 4 p.m. and funeral services were held Monday at 11 a.m., at the Hopewell Methodist Episcopal church, interment was made in the Hopewell cemetery."

"Following a two weeks' illness of grip, Mrs. Margaret Jane Strawn, who had passed her entire life in the vicinity of Waynesburg, died at the home of her son, William Strawn, 31 East Elm Street, Waynesburg Saturday afternoon at 2:15 o'clock. She was 86 years of age, having been born on the Adams farm, north of Waynesburg, on November 3, 1823. A general breakdown, as the result of age, was the cause of death. Mrs. Strawn's maiden name was Jewell, she being the daughter of Samuel and Margaret Mason Jewell. On July 15, 1841, she was united in marriage with Stephen H. Strawn, whose death occurred September 17, 1890. The following children survive: John, William and Morgan Strawn, of Waynesburg; S. G. Strawn and Mrs. Eliza Wilson, of Washington; Abner Strawn, of Hutchinson, Kan., and Mason Strawn, of Kansas City, Mo. Nineteen grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren also survive. Funeral services were held Monday morning at 11 o'clock at the Hopewell Methodist Episcopal church. Interment in Hopewell cemetery."
