"Mrs. Mary Buchanan Walton, aged 82, widow of the late State Senator Daniel S. Walton, died yesterday morning, Feb. 19, 1936, at 10:30 o'clock, at her home, 128 East High street, from complications which followed an attack of bronchial asthma and influenza. Mrs. Walton had been ill since February 9. Mrs. Walton was born, reared, married and died in the Buchanan homestead. She was the daughter of J. A. J. Buchanan and Mary Ann Bonar Buchanan. She received her education in the Waynesburg schools and later attended Waynesburg College. On March 18, 1873, she was married to Daniel S. Walton, the late Dr. A. B. Miller, for many years president of Waynesburg College, performing the ceremony in the Buchanan home. Senator Walton was one of Greene County's most distinguished sons and for 60 years was a member of the county bar. He died on September 10, 1934. Mrs. Walton was a member of the Waynesburg Presbyterian Church and was also a member of the Woman's Club and the Mother's Club. Two children survive, Mrs. Mary Walton Martin, and Jack Buchanan Walton, both of Waynesburg. Three grandchildren also survive. Funeral services will be held Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the home. Rev. George S. Maxwell of the Waynesburg Presbyterian Church will be in charge. Interment will be in Green Mont Cemetery." |
