SOURCE: Celeste Bower Hampton obituary, Waynesburg Republican, Waynesburg, Pennsylvania, 7 May 1896, page 1, column 6. (Transcribed by Candice Buchanan.)
"Mrs. Celeste Bower Hampton, wife of Rev. C. A. Hampton, died at her home in North Carolina, Tuesday, April 28, of Lung trouble. Mrs. Hampton was the daughter of Charles Bower, deceased, of this place, and was a sister of Supt. C. E. Bower, the only member of the family now left. Rev. and Mrs. Hampton removed from Waynesburg about twenty-six years ago and resided for many years at Minneapolis, Minn., where he was pastor of a Presbyterian church. A few years since they went south for the benefit of Mr. Hampton's health and in that climate he was greatly improved. Deceased was aged 52 years and leaves a husband, son and daughter to mourn her departure. Her many friends here, by whom she was loved and esteemed, will learn of her death with deep sorrow. The remains were interred at Charlotte, N. C." |
