"Mrs. Helena Hook Williamson, wife of E. F. Williamson, of Greensboro, Pa., died in the Waynesburg hospital, Thursday, October 4, at 11 p. m., of dilation of the heart. Her death proved a severe shock to her family and friends. Mrs. Williamson was a daughter of Thomas and Suda Inghram Hook, now deceased, and was born at the Hook homestead, one mile south of Waynesburg, in 1887, being in her thirtieth year. She was educated in the public schools and in Waynesburg college, being graduated from the latter institution in the class of 1909. She was talented in music and she was a violin player of unusual skill and ability. She was assistant principal for three years in the Jefferson high school and filled a similar position in the high school at Jacksonville. She was also a teacher for a short time in the McKeesport schools, but on account of ill health was compelled to give up her position. She was a young woman of brilliant mind and possessed a charming manner which endeared her to everyone. She had been from childhood a member of the Methodist Episcopal church and devoted much attention to Sunday school and Epworth League work. Always gracious with her musical talent she frequently rendered violin solos at the church services. Reared upon a farm, she was very fond of outdoor life and took pride in fine livestock. She was particularly attached to horses and was fond of driving a spirited team, which she did with rare skill. In everything she was most capable and discharged her duties with a cheerfulness which spread brightness and happiness around her. Her culture and refinement gave to her a charming personality which was never forgotten by those who made her acquaintance. On September twenty-seventh 1916, she was united in marriage with Prof. E. F. Williamson, and is survived by her husband and infant son, Charles Joseph Williamson; also by one sister, Mrs. Jane Hook Scott, wife of Rev. Frank D. Scott, of Hang Chow, China, and two half-sisters, Mrs. Ida Ely and Mrs. Florin Thomas, of near Waynesburg. The funeral services were held at the Hook home, south of Waynesburg, on Sabbath afternoon at two o'clock, by the Rev. Dr. Appleton Bash, of Pittsburgh, Who had been the pastor of deceased for several years, here, and Rev. John C. McMinn, of Jefferson. Each minister paid a fine tribute to her young life and the services were most impressive. Interment in Oakmont cemetery."
