"L. Lena Hawkins, 86, of 275 First Avenue, Waynesburg, died at 3:50 p.m. Saturday, May 27, 1972 in the Washington Manor. Born October 27 1885 in Morgan Township, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Clara Bailey Hawkins. She was a graduate of Waynesburg College and a longtime elementary school teacher around Waynesburg. Miss Hawkins was very active in the First Baptist Church of Waynesburg, where she was a member, as long as her health permitted. She was also a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, the Polly Wayne Garden Club, of Waynesburg, and the Chatauqua Reading Circle, of Waynesburg. She is survived by a brother, Ernest L. Hawkins, of Waynesburg, R. D. 1, and several nieces and nephews. Two brothers, Harry and Richard Hawkins, and a sister, Dora Hawkins, are deceased." |
