Going on fifteen years ago, in the course of an accidental walk through Green Mount Cemetery, I met my ancestors and life has never been the same. I was taught how to do genealogy research by the incredible volunteers at the Cornerstone Genealogical Society in Waynesburg, Pa. Now, a lot of years later, I am hoping to use this web site as a way to share what I and other genealogists with Greene County roots have found. Over the years, I have become particularly interested in the preservation of cemeteries and family photographs - two topics that compose much of this web site. Additionally, I am interested in telling an ancestor's story by stringing all of the separate pieces together, so that a mouse click on a tombstone will connect you to the photo and life details of the person the stone honors - or a tap on a photo caption will bring up the history of who that pictured person was including that final link to the tombstone that memorializes them. Hence Greene Connections is all about putting all of the pieces of lives back together and reassembling the Greene County families. I generally do not take genealogy clients due to a busy work schedule, but when available I will post to the Services page on this site about research offers. I will also try to help on a volunteer basis whenever possible and welcome inquiries. I would love to be in touch with anyone interested in participating in any of the projects on the web site by sharing photos or information. Credit is given to all contributors. I am a great-granddaughter of John Leoin Buchanan & Ocie Ella (Bowler) Buchanan and own a collection of Bowler, Buchanan, and related family photos, which includes Adamson, Clark, Hewitt, Knight, Owen and Thompson, among others. I am also a great-granddaughter of Russell Glenn Leasure & Melvena Bertha (Staggers) (Leasure) Clark and own a number of family photos for those lines. Additionally, I obtained the Ralph Kent Staggers family photos (including Eakin and Kent relatives) via auction in 2004 and was assisted in their identification by Lloyd Roupe and Helen Lee (Garrison) Thompson. |
