(Biographical Information / Research Interests):
Leana Dunlap would be related to my husband's
side of the family. She would be the sister of my husband's grandfather,
William Bailey Hague who lived in Galesburg, graduated from Knox College
there and then came east to Yale University where he received his theology
degree. He then moved into Maine where he was a minister at the South
Bridgton Church. It was in Bridgton that my husband's father, Albert
Hill Hague was born. He, too graduated from Yale University with an engineering
degree. Albert had two brothers and two sisters, all college graduates.
As for myself, I am a graduate of the
University of Southern Maine and was a teacher at the elementary school
level for 23 years. Both of our two children, Susan Hague Dyszel
(now deceased) went into the education field. Our daughter got a
masters degree from Boston University in music education. She died
in 1985 of a brain tumor. Our son also attended U of Southern Maine
and teaches at North Middlesex Regional High School in Townsend, MA.
My husband, Albert Hague, Jr. also graduated
from U of Southern Maine, taught for 3 years then changed professions.
He was employed for 35 years with a local bank.
We are both retired but heavily
involved in community affairs, our hobbies and travel. My biggest
hobbies are genealogy plus flower gardening in the summer.
I serve on the trustee board for our local
library and am treasurer of our garden club. We have had the good
fortune to take trips each year -- our latest being a 2 week tour to Italy.
If there is other info about the Hague
family that I can share, I would be glad to do so.
My home is Hallowell, Maine, a small city
of 2500 people in the Kennebec Valley next to the capital city of Augusta.
In fact I was born here and moved back here in 1953 after being at college
and living on the coast for 3 years.
We spent time in the Fayette County of
PA a year ago in the fall researching the Hagues in Uniontown. Also
went over into Dilles Bottom,. OH where Isaac Hague and Mary Ann Crawford
were married. I have been trying to learn more about the Crawford
lines and also the Bailey lines of the family but no luck with those two
names.
