Using the Photo Archives

The Photo Archives are arranged in collections and subsequently into series and subseries. On Flickr the series and subseries are called "sets," but you will still find them within the appropriate collections.

Here are some quick tips to make best use of these photos on Flickr:

• Search within the "Greene Connections" account to find results specifically from the Greene County Photo Archives Project.
• A complete index of photo subjects is also located at www.GreeneConnections.com on the Photo Archives page. It is a PDF document that gives you the collection, series, and item number of each photo. You can use this index to direct you to the correct Flickr images.
• Add Greene Connections as a Flickr contact to see latest additions.
• Use the Collections, Sets, & Tags tabs to search by categories.
• Use the Map tab to search by location.
• Use the Archives tab to search by date.
• Download via the Actions tab above each photo, select "view all sizes," then choose "original size."
• Post comments in the message boards below photos or send a note to Candice Buchanan.

Please note that the Photo Archives on Flickr is set up as a read-only public web site. You will not be able to add or edit the Photo Archives. You must contact Candice Buchanan to share photos, make corrections, or supply additional information.

Any feedback on ways to improve the Photo Archives are also welcome.

You can supply feedback on the Flickr system directly to the company. You can also create your own account and begin a project for your family and friends.

High-Resolution Images

To download high-resolution images on Flickr simply bring the photo up and click "Actions" at the top-left of the image. You will be given a choice of sizes; make your selection and download. The original high-resolution images are available here under the "original" size choice. All downloads are completely free. We ask only that you copy/paste the caption and source notes below each photo and keep that info with it wherever it is used.

Identifying Photographs Shared By Others / Correcting Photograph Information

Please contact Candice Buchanan if you can identify a person or subject in a photograph, have additional information about a photograph, have a correction to a photograph's data, have a better version of a photograph, etc.
